Scoring Yourself
This is the
"grading scale" to the "Are
You Driver Material?" quiz.
Printer Friendly Version of quiz.
Section I:
Total Possible: 135
If your score is
between:
135 - 115: You would seem to be very good driver material. You seem
to have a reasonable expectation level and good
attitude.
100 - 114: You would seem to be pretty good driver material – you
have most of the attitudes and expectations, but have a
couple of questionable issues you may want to give more
thought to.
Below 100: You probably should think the decision concerning truck
driving over, long and hard. You may have a lot of
issues with the job that may cause you distress and
frustration down the road.
Section II:
Total Possible: 25
A:
#1 = 5 pts
Responsibility
isn't much fun but this is by far the best answer.
#2 = 0 pts One sure way to damage your career. These things follow
you.
#
3 = 1 pt Not a good way to ensure a professional
driver/dispatcher relationship, but at least you're
staying with your truck.
#4 = 5 pts A lesson learned is invaluable!
B:
#1 = 1 pt Whining is pathetic but at least you called in.
#2 = 0 pts Your company could lose an account over an incident such
as this .. they may, in turn, lose you!
#3 = 5 pts Best bet – you should make the dispatcher aware you're
unhappy – i.e., call him on it, but you may as well just
resign yourself to the fact you're going to be waiting
for seven hours.
#4 = 5 pts A lesson learned is priceless.
C:
#1 = 0 pts Do this and you're virtually guaranteed every crappy
load the dispatcher can find for quite some time. Home?
He's going to forget where your is!
#2 = 5 pts Professional response - call him on the error but don't
shove down the throat.
#3 = pt Poor choice because now it looks as though it is
completely your fault and chances are very, very high
the company knows you were late.
#4 = 5 pts A lesson learned is worth more than gold.
D:
#1 = 0 pts Oh boy - your conflict with authority is going to be a
major problem. This is a guarantee you'll be at the
scale for many more hours to come.
#2 = 0 pts Another purely dumb idea… DOT officials have never been
known to be motivated by a threat from a driver.
#3 = 5 pts DOT officers are human, too – when approached
professionally and diplomatically, especially.
#4 = 5 pts Once again, a lesson learned…
E:
#1 = 1 pt You're bailing ship a bit soon but this response is
preferable to running over and opening yourself up to
liability in such a way.
#2 = 5 pts Best plan – and last ditch effort to be made before
throwing in the towel.
#3 = 0 pts No, no, no!! Just because you're new doesn't mean you're
dumb! Besides, no one can fire you for refusing to run
over hours. You have a nearly guaranteed-win lawsuit on
your hands if they do.
#4 = 2 pts Not a totally bad response, either but going above the
problematic dispatcher is better. If the dispatcher
isn't held accountable, he'll never change. It's good
that you are brave and smart enough to stick up for your
rights.
If your score is between:
20 - 25 You're instincts are good as to what you would do in
these problem situations.
15 - 19 Slightly "off" in response to problem situations, but
after some time on the road, this should come easier.
Below 14 You might just be tired or spacing off – your responses
are rather scary. You may well end up jumping from job
to job if you exhibit such behavior – need to rethink a
few things!
This quiz is by no means scientific!! Be careful how you
interpret it's results…for better or for worse.
